Jackfroot the Yellow Jackrabbit was digging. Dig, dig, dig! “I’m making a new room for my burrow!” he said. Kiwi, Taro, and Tang came to help. Wiggle, waggle! The friends loved to dig.

“Let’s make a room for a big, splashy water puddle!” shouted Tang. “Great idea!” said Jackfroot. They dug deeper and deeper.

But then… they heard a noise. Rumble, grumble… CRASH! Dirt fell down and blocked the way out. “Uh-oh,” whispered Taro. “We’re stuck!”

It was dark in the twisty-turny tunnels. They were lost. Kiwi said, “Don’t worry. We will find the way.” But every tunnel was a dead end.

The friends sat down. They felt sad. Then, Taro the sloth had an idea. A sloooow, smart idea. “In twisty tunnels,” he said, “if you always turn the same way… you can find the way out.”

So they tried. They walked and walked. At every new tunnel, they turned left. Left, left, and left again.

Then Kiwi saw something! A little tiny light. “Look!” he shouted. They wiggled and waggled toward the light. It got bigger and bigger! POP! They popped out of the tunnel and into the sunny forest.

“Hooray!” they all cheered. They were dirty, but they were safe. They found the way out because they worked together.
