Kind Words

The sun was shining, the sky was clear, and the air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers. It was a perfect day for an outdoor adventure. Eager to seize the day, Kiwi the Koala, Cheri the Red Giraffe, and their friends Tang, Taro, Blueberri, and Jackfroot, embarked on a journey to the mountains for a picnic.

Laughter filled the air as the friends hiked up the mountain, with Kiwi entertaining everyone with his jokes. But as they reached the enchanted bridge they’d heard tales about, a hushed silence fell over the group.

“You first, Kiwi,” Tang finally broke the silence.

“Why me?” Kiwi retorted.

“Because you’re the oldest,” Cheri chimed in.

“By just a month and three days,” Kiwi grinned. “But if we’re all scared, let’s cross it together, hand in hand.”

With Taro gesturing for silence, they started tiptoeing across the bridge. All was going well until Tang burst into laughter, remembering one of Kiwi’s jokes.

Too late—the troll awoke, irate and ready to ruin their day. The friends tried every trick in the book to outsmart him: jokes, lullabies, logical persuasion, food bribes, even acrobatics. Nothing worked.

Just as they began to lose hope, Blueberri stepped forward. “Please,” she said softly, looking the troll in the eye.

To everyone’s astonishment, the troll paused, shook his head as if breaking free from a spell, and grudgingly stepped aside. “Okay,” he grumbled, retreating to his lair.

As they finally sat down for their picnic on the mountain’s sun-drenched peak, the friends marveled at the incredible power of a simple “please.”

And so, their magical day in the mountains became an unforgettable lesson on the power of kindness—one they’d cherish for the rest of their lives.
